the big apple

we celebrated our first anniversary last weekend.  getting away to nyc was the perfect way to spend the weekend.  we stopped by the caldwell's on friday night and got to enjoy their company for a few hours.  they are just as kind as ever!  our first stop once we made it to nyc on saturday morning was central park.  we walked from our hotel to the park and made a pitstop along the way for a hot pretzel from the street vendors.  delish!  central park was so beautiful and so big.  i was not expecting anything so grand.  it was so beautiful and lively.  there we are under one of the pretty bridges:

my most favorite part of the weekend was my first ever broadway play- the lion king at the minskoff theatre in times square!  it was one of the neatest things i've ever seen and i'm pretty sure even vince would say it was fun ;).  it is definitely a must-see!

we had the best weekend and we celebrated the best year.  i am so blessed to have this man in my life-- he is so good.  thank you to all our friends and family who continue to support us!  we love you so much.

last week was really a good week for both of us.  i worked 6-2 in the infant room {how sweet they are!} and vince worked shorter days and was home every night before 6.  it was good to have some time aside from the weekends to spend together.

gus was in town for the weekend and despite the crazy dc traffic we faced on our way home from the airport, we all had a great time.  our day at the pool was much needed!  now he's off to italy to visit allison and her sister.  i really should have snuck away with them ;).  safe travels, guys!

two good weeks

so much has happened in the last couple of weeks and we have been having too much fun.  the murray's came up two weeks ago and spent a couple of days with us in stafford.  how wonderful it is to have them in our home!  we miss them so much {and the rest of our family, too!}.   our biggest of adventure of the weekend was our trip to the little trailer across the street where a man and his family sell fresh crabs and shrimp.  they steamed everything right there and we brought it back to the apartment to eat eat eat... so delicious!

vince headed off on his second FEX and megs made a last minute decision to visit.  blessed to have wonderful friends like her. we had the best adventure in washington, dc on her birthday.  the day started at the dc cupcakes shop {yes, the one from the show on tlc!} where we enjoyed the most delicious treats.  how we ever chose one to taste, i'm not sure.  but we did-- peanut butter and coconut!

we did the walking tour of all the monuments while we were in town, too.  it really never gets old.  the city is just so beautiful.

thanks megan for coming all that way to hang out.  it was so refreshing to see a friend.

patrol FEX went well for vince and he was a lot better off coming home this time around than after his last week in the field.  and... he aced land navigation.  so glad for him :)

now it's off to NYC for our first anniversary!  the last year has really flown and oh how wonderful it has been.
